Tea tree oil is an essential oil which is yellow- or green-tinged with a fresh amphoraceous smell. It is produced by steam distillation of the leaves of the plant – Melaleuca alternifolia, more commonly known as the Australian tea tree. As the name suggests, the trees are native to Australia and have been used for thousands of years by the aboriginals in Australia for healing wounds, cuts, abrasions, burns and infections by applying the crushed leaves to the affected areas.

These days the tea tree oil is being used as an antiseptic to treat burns, cuts, insect bites etc. It has anti-inflammatory properties and hence can be used as a topical application to give relief in conditions like arthritis, eczema, bursitis and gout.It can also give relief from pain because of its analgesic property. The oil is also anti-fungal. In some hospitals in Australia, it has been used before surgery to boost the affected immune system and in a London hospital, a study has been done and it was shown that the Tea Tree Oil can be an alternative to Vancomysin in countering the super bug methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Tea tree oil when inhaled makes breathing easier by acting as a decongestant. It can alleviate symptoms of sore throat and decrease the symptoms of cold and flu.

SKIN

The Tea tree oil has many uses for the skin. Its proven antifungal properties can be used to treat candidacies, ringworm, athlete’s foot and thrush. It can also be used to treat dandruff because it fights Malassezia furfur, which is most common cause for this affliction. Fungal nail infections can be cured by application of a formulation containing tea tree oil twice daily and relief can be typically seen in 3-4 months.

As a strong anti-viral agent, Tea Tree is effective in fighting many common
infectious diseases such as cold, shingles, measles, flu and chicken pox.

Tea tree oil is effective in treating boils, insect bites, minor wounds, soothe inflammation caused by sunburn poison ivy and bee stings.

The essential oil is also known to prevent foul body odor and soothe burning feet. It reduces scarring caused by hypertrophy. When massaged, tea tree oil may alleviate the discomfort of joint injuries and sore muscles.

It can also be used in the treatment of acne. When topically applied, a 5% solution of tea tree oil has been proved as effective as 5% benzoyl peroxide though it had a slower onset of action.

The oil can be used effectively for treating nappy/Diaper rash in babies which is cause.

Research has also shown that tea tree oil may have topical anti-viral property, with the Herpes virus, chicken pox, cold sores, warts, and shingles blisters, etc.

A word of caution; though tea tree oil is safe to use, it should not be used undiluted as in case of all essential oils. Undiluted Tea Tree Oil can cause irritation, itchiness, and redness on sensitive skin. Therefore, in case of people with sensitive skin, it is prudent to dilute the tea tree oil in another base oil like olive oil or even sunflower oil.

Scabies is one of the severe skin conditions that lead to painful and itchy rash. These scabies are caused by the parasites which reside on the human host, which in turn develops allergic reaction to the mites, their eggs and their faecal matters. These are infectious in nature and have to be eliminated as soon as diagnosed. A majority of the medications available in the market focus on killing these mites, but often induce other side effects. Therefore loads of people are turning to cheaper and safer options to treat scabies. We have listed some of the most common treatments for scabies.

Fresh juice extracted from the leaves of the apricot plant is to be applied on the affected areas. This has been highly effective in reducing the symptoms of scabies.

You can make a paste from the leaves of the neem tree and mix it with turmeric. This paste, in addition to the mustard oil, has to be applied on scabies to reduce the burning sensations.

The peepul leaves could be dried and then converted into a fine paste, to reduce the lesions of scabies.

Epsom salt baths have also proven to be highly effective for scabies. They would prevent the spread of the infection to the other parts of the body.

Lastly, tea tree oil is known to have antiseptic and antibacterial properties. When applied on the affected scabies parts, it would provide a soothing effect on the skin and also reduce the rash or the itching sensation.

They do connect,

We have all heard of the famous British explorer Captain Cook who In 1770 landed Botany Bay near the site that eventually would become known as Sydney, Australia. During this period of discovery he came across what was then known as the “Healing Ground” area, named by the aborigines, it was an area filled with trees. There Cook observed the aborigines as they applied crushed leaves, gathered from these trees, to open wounds and also used those same leaves to brew tea.

Tasting the tea he found it spicy and refreshing and it was he who gave the Melaleuca Alternifolia tree its common name “The Tea Tree”. Captain Cook and his crew would later on take samples of the tea tree back to England for further study but nothing ever became of those studies and thus the amazing medical properties of the Melaleuca Alternifolia remained undiscovered to those outside of Australia.

Many years later, Dr Dennis Considen, a surgeon, recognized the medical properties of the tea tree but due to lack of training and equipment the powerful potential of the oil remained dormant yet again for the next 150 years.

In 1923 Dr A. Penfold, an Australian chemist studied the tea tree oil in depth after distilling it and found that the oil had significant antiseptic as well as bactericidal properties. He presented his findings in the year 1925 to the Royal Society of new South Wales & England and in 1930 one of the first medical references to the qualities of tea tree oil was published in the medical journal of Australia.

When World War 2 broke out the melaleuca oil was an essential part of every Australian first aid kit. Later on in 1960 further studies were conducted in an attempt to rediscover and recertify the effects of the tea tree oil and so it begun, the tea tree was the hit of the century and the Australian government had to set standards for the development of acceptable quality oil which included at least 35% terpinen 4-ol and no more than 10 % cineole. Eventually the standards would change slightly to accommodate room for further proliferation.

Today, Melaleuca oil is recognized and sold world wide. It has undergone extensive research and has proven its multiple medical benefits. A good quality oil today would have at least 35% terpinen 4-ol and no more than 10% cineole which is the 1967 standard.

Finally, Melaleuca has been re-recognized as an extremely effective cure for a variety of medical conditions. Who would have ever thought that a tree would have such a long and complex history?

So, the answer is YES, Health, wellness & a tea tree do connect. Infact, hey have connected so well that some companies have used melaleuca oil in many of their products to establish a successful health line.

AS for myself, being a health care professional and anti-polypharmacy, I have been privileged to learn and gain from the multiple benefits of the tea tree as I do consider it to be a discovery beyond all medical discoveries.

So, to all of you who have not heard of it or tried it….to say you are losing out is an understatement.

If you are the one who is looking for a way to cure for vaginal yeast infection, you should be fully aware that tea tree oil can be used to get rid of the infection symptoms. Actually, tea tree oil has been used as a treatment in other countries for a long time, but it is considered to be a new treatment in the United States. However, right now, tea tree oil is considered to be a popular natural treatment for vaginal yeast infection.

As previously stated that tea tree oil is considered to be very effective treatment for vaginal yeast infection. However, there is one thing that you need to be very careful about using it as your treatment because it is very powerful. So, you should combine tea tree oil with other components before using it.

When you directly apply this oil to your skin, it is a fact that you might feel a uncomfortable because of your skin’s rawness and the oil’s potency. So, it is a good idea that you should use this oil in other way in order to avoid the uncomfortable condition as mentioned.

So, what you need to have in order to cure for vaginal yeast infection are as following:

- tea tree oil
- tampons
- a lubricant

First, just apply lubricant to the upper half of the tampon, then, add two or three drops of the tea tree oil to the tampon. After that, you just insert the tampon into the vagina.

If you are experiencing the burning and itching symptoms outside the vagina, you can find this oil in the form of a cream. This cream can be used without causing any uncomfortable condition. However, it is highly recommended that you should test the cream by using just a little, and see that it works or not.

It is a fact that tea tree oil is an effective treatment for vaginal yeast infection, and it is considered to be better than modern medicine because it is natural and will not cause you any harmful side effects at all.
